A First Time Buyer's Guide to London & Essex in 2026
Buying your first home is one of the biggest financial decisions you'll make, and the process can feel overwhelming without the right guidance from the outset.
Before you start viewing, secure a Decision in Principle from a mortgage lender or broker. This tells sellers you're a credible, ready buyer and can materially strengthen any offer you make.
Across Romford, Hornchurch and the wider Essex borders, we continue to see strong first-time buyer demand for two bedroom apartments and starter homes within easy reach of rail links.
Once you're under offer, arrange a survey appropriate to the property's age and condition, and budget for stamp duty, legal fees and moving costs on top of your deposit.
Our sales team works with a number of first time buyers every month and is always happy to talk through the process from a completely practical, no-pressure perspective.
